After meeting at the agreed location, we begin our journey to Maraza village.
Stop 1: Diribaba Mausoleum
Our first stop is the Diribaba Mausoleum, located in Maraza village (now part of the Gobustan district). This remarkable 15th-century structure is carved directly into a vertical limestone cliff, creating a stunning blend of natural rock and Islamic architecture. It takes approximately 110 minutes to reach the site from Baku.
Guests will spend around 30 minutes here, with explanations provided by their private guide.
Stop 2: Juma Mosque, Shamakhi
Next, we drive 25 minutes to the Juma Mosque in Shamakhi. Originally built in 744 AD, this is one of the oldest and most significant mosques in the Caucasus. It has withstood empires, earthquakes, and numerous restorations while remaining a powerful symbol of faith and resilience.
Guests will spend approximately 20 minutes here with a guided tour.
Stop 3: Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum, Shamakhi
Just 5 minutes from the Juma Mosque is the Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum (“Seven Domes”). This tranquil necropolis was constructed in the 18th and early 19th centuries for members of the Shirvan Khanate ruling family. Located on a quiet hillside, it offers a hauntingly beautiful glimpse into royal history.
Guests will spend about 20 minutes here with guide commentary.
Stop 4: Zarnava Suspension Bridge, Ismayilli
We continue 60 minutes to the Zarnava Suspension Bridge, a striking pedestrian bridge spanning the Girdiman River in the Ismayilli region. Stretching 74 meters, it connects the remote village of Zarnava to the main road to Lahij, serving as both a vital lifeline for locals and a thrilling crossing for visitors.
Guests will have 20 minutes to explore and walk the bridge.
Final Stop: Lahij Village
A 30-minute drive brings us to Lahij, one of Azerbaijan’s oldest and most picturesque mountain villages, nestled 1,200–1,500 meters above sea level. With a history spanning over 2,000 years, Lahij is famed for its cobbled streets, stone houses, and master artisans.
Here, you can discover over 127 traditional crafts, including copperwork, leather-making, blacksmithing, and carpet weaving. Lahij’s copperwares were once exported throughout the Caucasus and are now displayed in prestigious museums around the world.
Travelers will spend about 60 minutes here with a private guided exploration.
